Applegates List Of Monmouth County, NJ Burial Grounds
Family farms have converted to strip malls and neighborhoods.
Borders, geography and landmarks have been destroyed by time, weather and politics.
Some burial grounds just get overgrown and forgotten. (God forgive us!)
The stones fall over, they are covered by leaves, they are swallowed by the earth.
This list represents my efforts in seeking lost or forgotten cemeteries
and preserving that information for historic and genealogical purposes.

THINGS TO KNOW:
Please see list of ‘Unknown Cemeteries” if you cannot find what you are looking for here. It may be listed there by name without location or just a known cemetery location without a name. (Unknown Cemeteries List coming soon)
- The following list of burial grounds is triangulated from maps, books, the internet, email and many I have visited.
- In many cases, CEMETERIES have multiple names.
- Towns / regions / neighborhoods / subdivisions / postal divisions / census divisions / etc can all have multiple names representing the same area.
- In some older records locations have been mislabeled. I have tried to include them all, with the addition of how Google Maps currently identifies the area. (2014) This means there will intentionally be duplicates on this list.
- This is a hobby / obsession of mine. There is no reason to be rude. If you disagree with my information or have anything to add please just let me know... nicely. I no longer live in New Jersey and it is a rare opportunity I get to do the cemetery searches I used to do weekly.
- I took this list off-line 15 years ago. The foundation was from a time of early internet and pre-findAgrave and pre-google-map-satellite or street views. These were the days when if you wanted to find a cemetery you got in the car, wore hiking boots and bugspray and SEARCHED. I do not know what has inspired me to re-visit this project, other than frustration of not being able to find all the information I want quickly and easily online.
- I do believe this is a unique list, based on the way it has been assembled and evolved over the years. It is again online only in hope that it is helpful to those seeking more information that findAgrave and other key sources do not offer.
Please see list of ‘Unknown Cemeteries” if you cannot find what you are looking for here. It may be listed there by name without location or just a known cemetery location without a name. (Unknown Cemeteries List coming soon)
